In the category of too stupid to be fiction we have a gem. A “ !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ” took a selfie in front of an ISIS headquarter building and posted it to social media bragging about their command and control capabilities. A mere 22 hours later the Air Force dropped three JDAM’s on that HQ effectively eliminating any command and control capabilities that it contained. Have a picture of a Bone and some JDAM’s. And for good measure have another pic of a couple F-15E’s dropping some JDAM’s.

I’m stoked that our guys could follow up a lead like that, but making it a news story seems kind of dumb, right? Now ISIS will clamp down or disinform on social media, and we’ve lost a valuable intelligence asset.

I think something like that would have been pretty hard to keep under wraps. Throw in the fact that ISIS needs to use social media for recruiting purposes and I don’t think the publicity will do too much damage to our intelligence gathering capabilities. I’m sure they are getting a lot of intelligence from sources other than social media.

Horrible song is horribly appropriate. Unfortunately it is stuck in my head without even watching the video. Maybe later I’ll try watching the video to see if that will clear it out.

I posted on the FB article: that’s like the combat equivalent of posting a video of yourself riding a wheelie then getting a ticket in the mail for reckless driving.
